A most excellent Name
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the
fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by
His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made
the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the
express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power,
when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the
Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as
He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they
(Hebrews 1:1).
A
name to be confessed
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God
stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone
who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19).
Pray in His Name
And whatever you do in
word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God
the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17).
A
powerful Name
Then Peter said, “Silver and
gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ
of Nazareth, rise up and walk (Acts
3:6).
Let it be known to you all,
and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here
before you whole (Acts
4:10).
And this she did for many
days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you
in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour
(Acts 16:18).
