Jesus prayed regularly
Now in the
morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and
departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed
(Mark 1:35).
Jesus had His priorities straight
And He said to them, “Why did you
seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s
business?”
(Luke
2:49).
Jesus set an example of humility for
us to follow
Christ rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel
and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a
basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with
the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to
Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do
not understand now, but you will know after this.”
8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with
Me.”
9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but
also my hands and my head!”
10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to
wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not
all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him;
therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”
12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments,
and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done
to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say
well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher,
have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet
(John 13:4-14).
Take My yoke upon
you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:29).
Just as the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a
ransom for many (Matthew
20:28).
Yet it shall not be so among you;
but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave
of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be
served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many
(Mark
10:43-45).
For who is greater, he who
sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at
the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves
(Luke 22:27).
"Who,
when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He
did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges
righteously (1 Peter 2:23).
Jesus set an example of sincerity
(Jesus) Who
committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth
(1 Peter 2:22).
Jesus was thankful
At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the
wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes
(Matthew 11:25).
Then He took the cup, and gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of
you (Matthew
26:27).
At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the
wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes
(Matthew 11:25).
Then they took away
the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I
thank You that You have heard Me (John 11:41).
Jesus was totally submissive to God
He went a little
farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if
it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I
will, but as You
will (Matthew
26:39).
Though He was a Son,
yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered
(Hebrews 5:8).
Jesus set an example of good works
Jesus answered
them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of
those works do you stone Me?
(John 10:32).
God anointed Jesus
of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about
doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God
was with Him (Acts
10:38).
Jesus greatly valued God’s
commandments
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just
as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love
(John 15:10).
Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments,
and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven;
but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:19).
